OBJECTIVE


The Centre aims to promote University Pedagogy through actions aimed at creating a community of learning, innovation and continuous improvement of teaching at the Democritus University of Thrace, supporting teachers to exchange and create good learning and teaching practices, to record their needs, to reflect, to develop modern and effective educational actions, with the use of information technology (IT) during the teaching of university courses, in order to create an environment of learning, innovation and continuous improvement on teaching.

ACTIVITIES


The activities of the Centre are focused on the following axes:

Supporting lecturers and informing them on innovative practices for the education of students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as on new approaches to Adult Education and University Pedagogy, mainly through the organization of learning circles and short-term seminars.

Support lecturers proving information on the use of New Information and Communication Technologies (mainly internet, e-class, PowerPoint, e-learning, etc). The cooperation with existing structures of the University may be crucial to address these issues.

Operation of a focal point (repository) for the collection and redistribution of supporting educational material (in printed or electronic form), and the collection of ideas on good teaching practices.

Communication between lecturers during organized meetings to exchange views on successful practices or problems encountered in their teaching work.

Developing initiatives and synergies with other related structures of higher education institutions, institutes or bodies with similar activities operating in Greece or abroad.

The Teaching and Learning Support Centre may undertake and/or participate in additional educational activities, such as:

  1. Organizing learning cycles and all kinds of activities in cooperation with other scientific, professional, research or educational institutions and institutions in Greece or abroad after the conclusion of a relevant cooperation protocol.
  1. Provision of services such as the preparation of studies, development of innovative educational material related to teaching and learning in higher education, as well as undertaking relevant research work.
  2. Organization of conferences/workshops, experiential laboratories, and other scientific activities, such as the publication of scientific journals, etc.
